Installation and Usage:

Like most WordPress plugins, the installation of WooCommerce Serial Numbers is very simple and straightforward. If you have any experience of installing a WordPress plugin, there is nothing new for you. Most importantly, you need to have WooCommerce installed and activated on your site. It requires WooCommerce to function properly. For a detailed installation guide follow our documentation on installation.

How Does It Work:

WooCommerce Serial Numbers work for both virtual and downloadable products. First of all, you need to install and activate the plugin to enjoy its features. Once you activate the plugin, you will find a new menu option on your dashboard called Serial Numbers. You will find all the options associated with WooCommerce Serial Numbers under the new menu option.

To license enable or serial enable a product, you need to add serial numbers with that product. Simply add serial numbers with the product following the available options. When a customer purchases a license enabled product, a license key will be added with the order when the order is complete. You can also set orders to auto-complete for your license/serial enabled products. Serial Numbers are displayed on the order confirmation page and also added with the order confirmation email. Your customers will be able to find the serial numbers in their account section under the order details too.

🔑 How To Create/Add A License Key:

You will find that adding a license key is very easy. To create a serial number, you need to click on the Add New button to create a new serial number.

👉 First of all, select your desired product from the add new serial number interface. You can select the correct product from the dropdown by typing one or more characters of the product name.

👉 Secondly, you need to add the desired license/serial key from the Serial Number tab. You can use any combination of numbers and letters to make the license/serial key. You can also input multiple lines as your secret key.

👉 Thirdly, you have to deal with the “Activation Limit”. This is mostly applicable to software and game licenses. You can restrict the number of activation for the license from this section. For example, you have to enter 1 if you want to allow only a single activation with the key.

👉 Fourthly, comes the “Validity” section. This field takes days as input. If you want your license to be valid for one year then you need to enter 365 here. Note that, the count of days starts from the purchase date.

👉 Finally, comes the “Expires At” option. Enter a date from the pop-up calendar. Serial Numbers will expire after this date and they will not be assigned with any order after this date.

If you are not selling license keys for software or games then, you can ignore the third and fourth option. You can disable this from the Settings section by enabling Disable Software Support.

Compatibility:

WooCommerce Serial Numbers is only dependent on WooCommerce. Apart from that, you should at least have 5.6 as your PHP & MySQL version. We have tested this plugin thoroughly to make sure it operates seamlessly under every situation. We did not detect any problem or conflict during our test. Still, we are open to issues as we understand that WordPress and WooCommerce is a vast ecosystem of plugins and themes.

Buyer Beware. I purchased this plugin for some pro-features after evaluating the free version as well as reading the documentation and playing with the provided sandbox environment. It's difficult to test for every use-case in a sandbox, so I bit the bullet and made the purchase. Then I ran into a roadblock. After some back and forth live chat, it was determined that the plugin didn't support my use case (manually assigning serial numbers). I kindly asked for a refund and was refused twice. Even though the public documentation wasn't clear on this feature. For those wondering: you CAN turn off auto serial number assignment when orders are made, but you CANNOT choose which serial number to assign (so whats the point?). Pretty poor way to earn your business, in my opinion.

This plugin I bought to make a draw of a car and so gave each user a number for the draw and the truth is that I am delighted with it and with the support that has been very quick to solve all my doubts and in acting when I did not know what to do. 100%

Improved design information

Use Customize Design > Design Information to view design information such as size and number of stitches. Add comments to print on worksheet.

Access to design information has been improved with the addition of the Design Information docker. This can be accessed from Design Library or Embroidery Mode. Summary information about a design can be viewed and edited in the Summary tab. Generally this information is used to improve searchability. Use the information to search and filter designs by author, title, or subject. Tags can be added to improve searchability. Click Save to save details with the design file.

In addition to summary and design information, the new docker provides thread color and stitching information. The Thread Colors tab displays the color sequence and stitch counts for each design ‘element’. The Stitching tab displays technical stitching details.

Open graphics from Design Library

Use Manage Designs > New From Selected to create new designs based on designs selected in the embroidery library.

You can now use the New From Selected command to open selected graphic files in their own design tab ready for digitizing. In addition to the other image file formats, you can now view and open CDR files from Design Library.

Print design catalogs

Use Manage Designs > Print Selected to Catalog to print selected designs to an HTML catalog.

You can now print HTML catalogs of selected designs. Printed catalogs contain thumbnails plus limited text details. You can prepare catalogs of your designs to suit your needs.

Faster and more precise design searches

Design Library allows for even faster searching of designs. Use the View toolbar to quickly search or sort designs by name, create date, and other criteria. The improved Search field is very powerful. To begin with, select a file type to search on, and select criteria from the improved droplists. Note that 'power searching' applies only to EMB and JAN files, not all formats.

Searchable fields include common categories:

• File name
• Date modified

Add folders to the library

Use Manage Designs > Manage Embroidery Library Locations to add or remove existing folders from the Embroidery Library, enabling fast searching and filtering.

The mechanism for adding and removing folders from the Design Library has been improved with the addition of the Manage Embroidery Library Locations function. This replaces the obsolete Add Folder to Library and Remove Folder from Library functions.
