Section 1: Introduction Site Prerequisites

1. Introduction

This section lists all the prerequisites required for installing software
version
♦ Site Prerequisites: Items, resources and information, supplied by the

customer.
♦ Deliverables: Items supplied by KLA-Tencor.
♦ Installation Team Resources: Items, resources and information the

installation team should bring with them.

IMPORTANT

Before starting the installation procedure, read section 1 carefully.

CAUTION
If you are using an RDM Server, and the installed RDM software version is
lower than , you must first upgrade RDM Server to software version

Site Prerequisites

Verify that the following items are present on site:
♦ Archer system with software version or installed on the tool.
♦ GB of free space available on drive C:\.
♦ Oracle installed on the tool.

To verify:
Check that a folder named C:\Oracle does exist (look for C:\Oracle, not
for any other name)
♦ MIL installed on the tool.
To verify:
a. Open the folder C:\BIN_COMMON.
b. Right click a MIL*.DLL file (any file of the form MIL*.DLL).
c. From the pop-up menu select: Properties > Version.
d. Verify that the version says: 7.X (for example: ).
♦ MS Windows NT with Service Pack 6a installed on the tool.
♦ A list of all new license codes for new features exists (these licenses are
obtained according to the tool’s serial number).
♦ If AIM or MPX are running with software version , you must have new
license codes, to run these features after upgrading to

2. Installation Procedure

IMPORTANT

Before you start, check the KLA-Tencor Israel Intranet site
http://isrintranet/sw/ to find out if you have the latest Service Pack, or
for a later Installation procedure.

A Service Pack always includes all previous Service Packs since the last Base
version, and is composed of:

• A description of the Service Pack, including instructions for installation as
well as a list of which bugs are fixed by this Service Pack; and

• The file(s) containing the actual software.

The documents found on the Optical Metrology User Documentation page
usually describe the basic software version Installation/Upgrade (not the
Service Pack upgrade).

This document provides step-by-step instructions for upgrading the Archer
system software from version or , to software version

NOTE

The notation software version , in this document stands for software
version with or without a service pack (1, 2, or 3).

The table below provides specific references to the information required for
each installation case.

Upgrading RDM

Before You Begin

Before you begin, please read the following important notes:

IMPORTANT

• RDM is an optional module.
Archer systems running Archer software version requires RDM
software version

• If the Archer tool is part of an RDM System (server and one or more
tools), the RDM server and all clients must be upgraded to RDM software
version

• If an RDM client is already installed on the Archer tool, you will have to
reinstall RDM software version on the client Archer tool, after
completing the Archer software installation.
This client must be reinstalled regardless of the previous client software
version (even if the client runs RDM software version ).

Installation

„ To install RDM , follow the instructions in your RDM Installation
Manual.

System Backup

CAUTION

Verify that there are no copies of any Archer system applications (such as:
Killall, MCDB, Machine, or Diag) on the Desktop. Only shortcuts are allowed.
Any copy of an Archer system application should be deleted from the Desktop
before starting the upgrade procedure.

This section provides instructions for the preparations required to install
software version

System Backup to Drive F

To backup the system to Drive F:

1. Restart the computer (ALT+CTRL+DEL).
2. When the system prompts you to select the boot drive, select the DISK

no.1 or STANDALONE (D drive) boot option.
3. Press ALT+CTRL+DEL and log on as Administrator.

(no password needed).
4. Open Windows NT Explorer.
5. On the View menu, click Show all files to open the Folder Options

dialog box.
6. Click the View tab, select Show all files (in the Hidden files group), and

click OK.
7. Empty the Recycle Bin.
8. Create a new folder in drive F and name it Backup_'Date'.

For example: Backup_15Jul
9. Copy the entire content of drive C:\ (All folders and files except the file:

C:\manicapital.com) to the backup folder you created in drive D:\. This
operation may take several minutes, depending on the total size of the
files in drive C.
When the operation is complete, proceed to section System Backup
to DAT Tape.

System Backup to DAT Tape

To backup the system to DAT Tape:

1. Restart the computer (ALT+CTRL+DEL).

2. When the system prompts you to select the boot drive, select the
disk No.1 or STANDALONE (D drive) boot option.

3. Press ALT+CTRL+DEL and log on as Administrator (no password needed).

4. Insert the DAT Tape into the DAT drive and wait about a minute for the
tape to be mounted (verify that the tab on the tape is in a closed position
to enable writing).

5. Open the Backup window: Start > Programs > Administrative
Tools > Backup.
The Backup window opens with two dialog boxes: Drives: and Tapes.
These dialog boxes might be minimized. Display both dialog boxes on the
screen.

6. If the DAT tape you are using contains a previous backup, erase it
(Operations > Erase tape).

7. On the Drives dialog box, select the C:drive check box and click the
C:drive icon.

8. Click Backup on the toolbar and select the following options:
Tape Name: enter a name in the box labeled Tape Name by using
machine serial number and date.
For example: Archer10 06/15/
Operation: Replace.
Select Verify After Backup.
Type in a name for the description. Enter the tape name from step (a), or
enter a name for the description.
Backup Type: Normal.
Log path: D:\WINNT\manicapital.com
Log Information: Full Detail.

9. Start the backup operation by clicking OK.
It may be necessary to use more than one tape for the backup. Remove a
tape by pressing the button on the face of the DAT drive, and insert an
additional tape.

When backup is complete, remove the tape as previously described, or by
clicking the Operations menu and selecting Eject Tape.

Move the Write Protect switch of the tape to the left to change its status
to Read Only.

From the Operations menu, select Exit to exit the backup program.

Restart the computer (ALT+CTRL+DEL).

Proceed to section Uninstalling Software Version Security Module.

Uninstalling Software Version Security Module

To uninstall the current Archer Security module:
1. Insert the Archer software CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Copy the folder E:\Security (E:\ = CD-ROM drive name) to C:\

The following message is displayed.

3. Click Yes to All (as many times as required).
4. Run: C:\\Security\Prepare_Uninstall_Old_manicapital.com

The following script window opens.

5. Press any key to continue.
A Killall script runs.

6. When prompted, press any key to continue.
The following message is displayed.

7. Click OK.
The script window is closed and the computer is restarted.

8. Log on as a Windows NT administrator (do not use KTADMIN as
username).

9. Run Killall (Start > Run > Killall).

Run: C:\\Security\Uninstall_Old_manicapital.com
The following script window opens.

Press any key to continue.
A Killall script runs.

When prompted, press any key to continue.
The following message is displayed.

Click OK.
The script window is closed and the computer is restarted.

Log on as a Windows NT administrator (do not use KTADMIN as
username).
Several error messages might be displayed.

Click OK on each error message box to continue with the installation
procedure.
The SnagIt application Welcome window might be displayed (this window
will be displayed every time a new user is defined).

Close the SnagIt application Welcome window, every time it opens.
Run Killall (Start > Run > Killall).
Proceed to section Archer Software Installation.

Archer Software Installation

To install Archer software version
1. Close all open applications. (To close Archer system applications, wait for

the tool to start running and the Kerror window to appear.
Click Start > Run, type Killall and then click OK.)
2. Insert the Archer software CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
3. Run: E:\Archer SW Install\manicapital.com (E:\ = CD-ROM drive name).
The Welcome dialog box opens.

4. Click Next>.
The Software License Agreement dialog box opens.

5. Click Yes to accept the terms.

The Information dialog box opens, displaying the current Archer
installation status.

6. Click Next.
The following message is displayed.

7. Close any open applications, using ALT + TAB,
or using ALT + CTRL +DEL (the Windows Task Manager).

8. When all applications are closed, click OK in the message box.
The Archer system installation process starts. A progress bar shows the
progress of files being copied (this step takes a few minutes).

9. When the installation wizard finishes copying the installation files, there
are two options to proceed:

a. If upgrading from software version , the installation wizard
automatically installs MS Data Access Components Proceed to
step

b. If upgrading from software version , the installation wizard skips
the MS Data Access Components installation. Proceed to step

Perform this step only if upgrading from software version If
upgrading from software version , skip this step and proceed to step


When the installation wizard finishes copying and updating, MS Data
Access Components are installed.

A progress bar is shown, and then the following End User License
Agreement is displayed.

a. Select the check box to accept the agreement, and click Next.
The installation wizard checks for available disk space, and then the
following dialog box is displayed.

b. Click Next to continue.

NOTE
Do not restart your computer now. Restart when the Setup
Complete dialog box is displayed, in step

The following dialog box is displayed:

c. Press Finish.
d. Press Close when the MS Data Access Components setup is

complete.

The installation wizard continues with various installation tasks.
The installation tasks specified below are the most time-consuming
installation tasks.

a. The registry is updated (updating the registry may take a few
minutes).

b. The database is updated (updating the database may take a few
minutes, depending on the size of the database).

If upgrading from a lower version, proceed to the next step.

-Or-
If you are reinstalling version , the Context Upgrade dialog box
opens. Clear the Read Only check box, and click Go.

When the application indicates that the context upgrade has been
successfully completed, close the dialog box (with the X at the upper right

corner.)

When installation is complete, wait for the Setup Complete dialog box to
open.

Select Yes, to restart the computer now, and click Finish.
The computer restarts.
During the restart sequence, the Archer Logon dialog box is displayed.

Log on to the Archer system as KTADMIN.
The system begins initialization.

Run Killall immediately. Do not wait until initialization is completed.
Open the folder: E:\ViewFolderOption (E:\ = CD-ROM drive name).
In this folder, double-click manicapital.com
Proceed to section Enabling Licenses.

Enabling Licenses

To enable licenses:
1. From the Start menu, got to Archer > Machine Configuration.

The MCDB dialog box opens. (If a Logon window opens, log on as
KTAdmin.)
2. Click Config.
3. Click the Licensing tab.
A list of all licensed features is displayed under License Configuration.

NOTE

The list of licensed features depends on the tool type. The example below
is applicable for an Archer 10 tool.

4. Verify that the enabled licensed features list displayed on the Licensing
tab complies with the licensed features list in section of the Archer
SRN, PN (the SRN can be found on the Archer Product
Family Software Version CD-ROM, in the \\Documentation folder).

NOTE

Verify that all features marked Licensed in the SRN list, are displayed.
Features marked Yes in the SRN list are active, but not displayed.
Some previously installed licenses might not be displayed. This is due to
some licensed features being changed to default features that are part of
the basic software package.

5. Select the check boxes next to the features that you want to license, and
click Apply.

A dialog box is displayed.

6. Type a feature's license code in the text box, and click OK.
The dialog box is displayed again and again until you enter license codes
for all the features you have selected in step 5 above.
When you click OK for the last feature, the following message is
displayed:

7. Click OK.
8. Run Killall (click Start > Run. Type: Killall and then click OK).
9. Start the Archer system (Start > Archer > Machine).
The Archer Autorun window opens.
Proceed to section 3: Verifying the Correct Software Version.

3. Verifying the Correct Software Version

To verify that the Archer software version is correct:
1. From the Autorun window, select the menu option Help > About

Archer.
Verify that the correct software version is displayed in the software
version text box (= ).

2. Click OK to close the dialog box.
3. If the system has a KLASS Station, proceed to section 4 to upgrade it.

Or-

If the system does not have a KLASS Station, proceed to
section 6: Configuring the Tool for FA.

NOTE
The KLASS Station is an optional module.
If the system has a KLASS Station, you must upgrade it as described in this
section.

♦ MS Windows NT with Service Pack 5 (or higher) is installed on the

KLASS Station.
♦ RS1 software version / is installed on the KLASS Station.

Upgrade Procedure

This section provides step-by-step instructions on how to upgrade the KLASS
Station to software version

IMPORTANT
• The upgraded KLASS Station for the Archer system software version

will no longer be compliant with Archer software versions , ,
, , or
• For all installation procedures, log on to the system with Administrator
privileges.

To Upgrade the KLASS Station:
1. Insert the Archer software version CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of

the KLASS Station computer.
2. Run E:\ KLASSStationUpgradeForAV\manicapital.com

(E:\ = CD-ROM drive name).
Running this batch file closes all open KLASS processes, and copies the
installation files into the folder C:\Analysis\Install\.

3. Run C:\Analysis\Install\KLASSexe file.
Follow the instructions displayed on screen.
Whenever prompted, select the default options.

4. Run C:\Analysis\Install\AnServerexe file.
Follow the instructions displayed on screen.
Whenever prompted, select the default options.

IMPORTANT
If asked whether to re-install the Read-Only file
C:\Winnit\System32\Mfcdll during the installation, choose No.

5. If the SMP Analysis package is required, run
C:\Analysis\Install\SMPFexe.
Follow the instructions displayed on screen.
Whenever prompted, select the default options.

6. If the Flier Culling package is required, run
C:\Analysis\Install\KLASSFlierCullingexe.
Follow the instructions displayed on screen.
Whenever prompted, select the default options.

NOTE

Running KLASSFlierCullingexe also installs the source code of the
filter RPL in C:\Program Files\KLASS\Work\manicapital.com
If a previous RPL by that name already exists at this folder, it should be
backed up before installation.

7. If the MPX package is required, run C:\Analysis\Install\FELMexe.
a. Follow the instructions displayed on screen.
Whenever prompted, select the default options.
b. To register the MPX license, see section Registering the MPX
License.

8. When the upgrade is finished, restart the KLASS Station computer
(ALT+CTRL+DEL).

Registering the MPX License

IMPORTANT
Contact OMD to obtain a license key using the volume serial number obtained
in step 1, below.

To register the MPX license:
1. Obtain the eight-digit Volume Serial number of the PC:

a. From the Start menu, got to Programs > MS-DOS prompt.
A DOS prompt window opens.

b. Type dir aaa.
The Volume Serial number is displayed.

c. Record the number without the hyphen.
d. Return to Windows NT: type Exit, and then press ENTER.
2. Contact OMD to obtain a license key.
3. After obtaining the license, from the Start menu, select Programs >
KLASS for Windows > License Key Setup.
The License Key Setup dialog box is displayed.
4. In the License Key Setup dialog box, fill in Product Name,
Expiration Date and the License Key issued by OMD.
5. Press the Install key.
6. Restart the computer.

Verifying the Installation on the KLASS Computer

To verify the installation:
1. Select: Start > RS1-KLASS for Windows.

The RS/Client Main window opens.

2. From the KLA Application Menus, select the Stepper Setup
Analysis option and press ENTER.

The Stepper Setup Analysis menu and the KLASS for Windows
software version are displayed.

3. Verify that the KLASS for Windows software version is

4. Quit RS1.
5. Select: Start > Start ARP.

The ARP Analysis window opens.

6. Click Upload Data Setup.
When you click this button for the first time after completing the upgrade
process, the following error message is displayed.

7. Click OK.
The Analysis Upload Data Setup dialog box opens.

8. Click Version.
9. Verify that the AnServer software version is , as shown below.

Click OK.
Click Apply & Exit, on the Analysis Upload Data Setup dialog box.
Repeat steps 6 to 10 for the View button on the ARP Analysis Window.
In the RS1 prompt, enter: CALLl #KLAUTInfo.
Verify that the KLAUT version is KLAUT
Proceed to section Verifying Installation on the Archer System

Computer.

Verifying Installation on the Archer System Computer

To verify the installation:
1. Verify the KLASS Station computer name is correct:

Check that the MCDB key \Analysis\KlassStationMachine, contains
the KLASS Station computer name (exact same computer name).
2. Verify the tool is configured to send data to KLASS:
Check that the MCDB key \Analysis\AnalysisType is set to KLASS
3. To verify that results are transferred to the KLASS Station, open the
Result Viewer (on the Archer system) and click Export View.
a. Select a lot on the left pane by double clicking on it.
b. Open the Destination drop down list, and select Host+Analysis+ARP.
c. Click Export to export the selected lot to the KLASS Station.
d. On the KLASS Station, verify that the ARP Analysis window pops up,

containing the KLASS results for the exported lot (as shown in the
example below).

4. When this screen is displayed, the communication between the Archer
system and the KLASS Station is verified.

5. Configuring SnagIt to Use Tool Thermal Printer

1. Open the Printers folder (Start > Settings > Printers).

3. Close the Printers folder.
4. Open SnagIt main window (Start > Programs > SnagIt).

a. From SnagIt main window select: Output > Properties.
b. Select the Printer tab.
c. Verify that the Default Windows Printer option button is selected.
d. Verify that the Default Windows Printer is the tool thermal

e. Click the Page Layout button.
f. Select the Maximize Image on a Single Page option button.
g. Click OK on the Page Layout dialog box.
h. Click Apply on the Output Properties dialog box.
i. Click OK on the Output Properties dialog box, to close it.
7. Continue with configuring SnagIt according to your requirements.
8. When you finished with SnagIt configuration, close SnagIt.
9. When SnagIt is closed, turn off the tool thermal printer.
When SnagIt is closed, turn On the tool thermal printer.
Open SnagIt.
Print a screen shot using SnagIt, and verify the printout on the tool
thermal printer.
