If you have tried the following, forgive me… Are you using aliases =
when
you can? I mean instead of using TABLENAME.FIELDNAME use =
ALIAS.FIELDNAME,
where the ALIAS can be a single character. Something like this:
SELECT c.LastName, c.FirstName, o.OrderID, o.OrderDate FROM Customer c =
INNER
JOIN Orders o on o.CustomerID =3D c.CustomerID
This can save you quite a bit…
If you are still having issues and you are doing this, you may want to =
use
the view or the stored procedure as you suggest. Personally, I would =
use
the view unless you need to do this automatically. If it’s an =
infrequent
on-demand kind of query, I would certainly go this route. If the =
execution
time is still and issue, you will be able to tune your query in Query
Analyzer prior to committing it as a view. You can either bcp it out or
dump it to a temp table and DTS it out. If you go with the temp table, =
you
will find that the speed issues with DTS you were having are probably =
gone.
